New in Version 4

Updated script wording

The wording of prescriptions has been updated to take account of developments in legislation and guidance; these include the new Clinical Guidelines, the outcome of the Shipman enquiry and other guidance from the Home Office.

All the 'additional dispensing instructions' suggested by the Clinical Guidelines are included, though you can edit these and add further instructions to the database.

Other changes to the prescription wording include tighter formatting to get more information onto a single prescription.

Automated support for multiple dose units

A major enhancement in this version is the handling of drugs which are available in multiple dose sizes, for example Diazepam and Buprenorphine. In the new version, the user simply enters the target dose; ScriptBase checks whether this is possible (from available dose units), suggests the closest dose if yours was not possible, and then allows you to select the combination of dose units you prefer the client to recieve. The selected combination of dose units is written onto the script.

Validated NDTMS / TOPS support

The latest version of the NDTMS / and TOPS recording tools are intergrated within ScriptBase. The validation rules supplied by the NTA are 'written in' to Script:Base so you can be sure that when there are no errors or warnings in ScriptBase then the data will be accepted by the NTA.

For Scottish users, SMR25 support is planned in the near future.

Full XP / Vista compatability

Previous versions of ScriptBase ran under XP and Vista, though there were some complexities in installing it to work correctly. Version 4 is fully tested under these environments.

Linkage to other patient management systems

Ealier versions of ScriptBase did not 'link' to other patient management systems. This has now been remedied with 'PAS-Link' - a tool to create a bridge between ScriptBase and many other systems. See seperate section on PAS-Link for more details.

End user report writing system

ScriptBase uses a report engine that allows end-users to create and edit reports based on ScriptBase data, as well as prevew and print those supplied with ScriptBase. The report engine is called 'ReportBuilder' and has been developed by a third-party company 'Digital Metaphors'.

An example of a report supplied with version four is available here for download. (note this is sample data for illurstration only).

Creating reports is not trivial and will require significant study, even by technicaly minded and determined users. A 450 page developers manual is available from Digital Metaphors, both for purchase and as a pdf for download.

The on-line help files are included along with ScriptBase, though the 'Learning ReportBuilder' helpfile is only available as HTML Help that is only supported on Windows later than NT4.

Report writing service

ScriptBase Software works with a programmer expert in writing reports in the ReportBuilder system. If you have specific report needs, we can arrange for this to be developed for you and billed on a per hour basis. In order to build up the range of reports available for ScriptBase, we will charge a lower fee if you agree for us to release a version of the report (without your logo / title on top of course) to the rest of the ScriptBase 'community'.
